Portfolio of Works
Portrait/Figure
My commissioned portrait work can be seen at: www.portraitartist.com/erickson.
Included here is a selection of studies from life and other portraits or figures not shown on that site.
This selection will change as I do demos, experiment, and study from life.
Caddo Lake Paintings
Plein air and studio paintings done while living on Caddo Lake in Harrison County Texas from 2004 - 2008 or derived from reference paintings or photos taken at that time.
Landscape Paintings
This is a sampling of landscape paintings, mostly plein air, done over the years. New work will be displayed periodically.
Horse Paintings
My love of horses began when I was a just a young girl living in California.
I took lessons at the Grandona Ranch in Merced and then began working in the stables and showing their quarter horses.
Later, I owned a quarterhorse/thoroughbred bay mare named: Cupcake.
When I moved to Idaho, because of my military father's transfer, I was the owner of a buckskin quarterhorse mare named: Buckwheat.
When I left for college, my riding days ended, but my love for horses has never ended. I now express it with drawing and painting this magnificent animal.
Still Life - Floral
Still life is a wonderful format for studying painting and composition. I began my painting career with still life and still enjoy doing them.
It isn't so much about the objects painted as it is about the movement of light over the forms and personal symbolism that may be in
the composition. At times the inspiration is the beauty of a bouguet given as a gift, memorabilia from the past, or and idea that can be expressed with a certain collection of objects and textures. The possibilities are endless.
